Stevenage is the 27th largest industrial town in the UK, with a pedestrianised Town Centre complete with an indoor market and a wealth of leisure facilities. Combined with excellent transport links – including 45 kilometres of cycle ways – Stevenage is perfect for commuters and local workers alike.

Stevenage is located by the A1, just 32 miles from London. The postcodes covering the Stevenage and the surrounding area are SG1 and SG2. Neighbouring towns and villages include Knebworth (SG3) plus Gravely and Saint Ippolyts (SG4).
The town is served by Stevenage railway station on the East Coast Main Line, and has regular commuter services to London and Cambridge, as well as quick connections to the North and Scotland.

In Stevenage, there are plenty of opportunities for work and play.

There are several industrial areas that are home to several large employers – such as British Aerospace, GSK and Fujitsu – as well as many smaller businesses.

After work, Stevenage residents have a wide choice of leisure activities. The Old Town and Stevenage Leisure Park offer a tempting variety of restaurants and pubs. Plus, there is the Gordon Craig theatre, a bowling alley and a cinema, all within easy reach of the town centre and the railway station.

If you enjoy being more active, Stevenage has a swim centre as well as several fitness clubs including Stevenage Arts and Leisure Club. Plus, the town is surrounded by three golf clubs.

Fairlands Valley Park is in the heart of Stevenage with its own sailing centre, climbing wall and jogging track. For those who prefer more sedate leisure time, Fairlands Valley offers fishing and lovely walks within 120 acres of parkland.

The local football club is Stevenage FC with its own stadium in the town. The club has gone from strength to strength is recent years; currently playing in League Two at the Lamex Stadium.

Stevenage’s next-door neighbour is the historic Knebworth House, which offers a great day out for all the family. Within the grounds are beautiful gardens - and a dinosaur trail! Knebworth hosts events from craft gatherings to classic car rallies to rock concerts.

Transport links are excellent with a fast train service into London and several train services that transport north. Stevenage nestles between junctions 7 and 8 of the A1(M), with London only 32 miles away. If you like to travel further afield, Stansted and Luton airports are close by.

There is a wide choice of schools within Stevenage, including eight secondary schools and 11 primary schools, (excluding neighbouring village schools). In addition, there are six Children’s Centres in Stevenage.
